MIT Reunion Presentation on Mindfulness (video)

In early June, 2014, I had the wonderful opportunity to give a talk on mindfulness to 125 reunion attendees and staff of the Sloan School of Management at MIT. The focus was on how to increase mindfulness about how we cause our own energy to be strong or weak which, in turn, leads to dramatic increases in wellness and vitality.

According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, the definition of mindfulness is: The practice of maintaining a nonjudgmental state of heightened or complete awareness of one’s thoughts, emotions, or experiences on a moment-to-moment basis.

  • Selected Synonyms – awareness, cognizance, knowledge, notice, observation
  • Selected Related Words – discernment, perception, recognition, understanding

This is very similar to what we at Energetic Well Being™ mean by Neutral. I think of this as being about the most powerful place we can be energetically. When we are in this place we are present, involved, balanced, and not reacting to events or people or anything else going on around us.

A colleague and friend, Steve Dupre of NOW Energetics©, said: “Neutrality simply widens the playing field of possibilities – increasing our chances of experiencing a different outcome.”

During my talk, I gave illustrations of how greater mindfulness:

  • improved consulting projects in an earlier career.
  • helped make a good relationship with my wife great.
  • is making a big difference with clients everyday.

Then there were demonstrations with three volunteers from the audience who experienced increased wellness and vitality on the spot (back pain went away for one).

After the talk people kept coming up to me (and the Sloan School Staff) talking about how much they benefited from the experience.  A couple of those I worked on came up the next day to say how much better they were feeling.

During the weekend prior to and after the reunion, I conducted my first webinar of the Energetic Well Being Essentials Workshop©.

The participants included individuals from Norway, Germany, Australia, Canada and the U.S. (I continue to be amazed at and grateful for the power of the internet to connect us all).

A couple of the participants stated that their biggest challenge was realizing how simple it is to eliminate symptoms and get back to our natural state of wellness and vitality.

That’s what the Energetic Well Being Process is about!
