Topic: New Appreciation for Recycling!
Description: On a recent Saturday, a non-profit group I belong to volunteered to work at our town dump’s recycling center in order to make money. I volunteered to work from 7:30 AM to 1:30 PM.
People throw their trash into big containers, and put their cans, bottles, cardboard, etc. into recycle bins. They then bring their returnable cans and bottles that have a deposit on them to a separate recycling area and put them into a large open box.
Three of us took the returnables and sorted them into boxes and bags so they could be redeemed. I was amazed at the volume of items we sorted, and was grateful that it could be used again vs. being buried and taking numerous years to break down.
